Taking radiographs can give us helpful insight into some injuries that patients may have that are not always discernable from the outside. In some cases, we may know there is a problem, but do not fully understand the extent of it. In the case of this Great Blue Heron, the leg fracture depicted was palpable and visible, but the degree and exact location of the break was not fully understood until a radiograph was taken.
