My name is Alana. I have an Associate's degree in Science, a BS in Wildlife Biology, and a concentration in Wildlife Rehabilitation. From a young age, my passion has been animals. At the age of 16, I started volunteering at my local humane society, and eventually at a wildlife rehabilitation center. I took a break from it when I started working on my AS and picked it right back up when I started my Bachelor's degree.
I volunteered and studied at the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Banner Elk, NC, which was associated with my school, Lees-McRae College. While going to school, I started doing extra work at my professor's off-site location, where a lot of the ambassadors were kept. The school eventually allowed her to hire me as an independent contractor, as well as hiring me as an off-season rehabilitator in the main center. While attending LMC, I was a mentor and TA in the facility, teaching over 30 of my peers how to rehabilitate wildlife and educate the public with ambassador animals.
Immediatley after graduating, the school hired me to continue working in the rehabilitation center as a mentor to students as they went through their clinical internship.
